As a Broker, I am always asked many questions dealing with the Real Estate industry. I am always glad to answer these questions. The question that I hear the most is: : What services do you provide and at what commission are you charging?
My answer to this question is, is it more important for the public to receive a discount on the services in which a Realtor should provide. Or is it more vital for the public to know that the Realtor that they are using is qualified. Able to negotiate on your behalf, know the market in which you live, know how to price your home, or know the actual market price of the properties you maybe interested in proceeding with.
Quality of service in my opinion will always be paramount due to the fact. That lowering the price, of course will be cheaper at the moment. However, in the long run you could actually end up paying more.
All of us are customers to some extend, and we have all experienced high quality of service. Compared to discount services. We all say that, we won't allow that discount service to get us again. Or this will never happen to me again, I will be prepared next time.
However, when it comes to buying or selling your home. Why do we all look for the cheapest at first.
If you wanted a beautiful Coach handbag, do you go to your local department store or go to the actual Coach store. You as the customer know that it's the quality of service and the brand name that makes the buying process less stressful.
I think that the same should go for Real Estate. Don't just go to anyone who is offering you no commission, or a discounted rate. Best practices, in my opinion is to do your homework shop around and compare.
Be prepared with question if necessary, get to know the Realtor's you interview, and remember that it's your decision not the Realtors to work alongside of each other. Be patient and you will know who is your best fit for the home buying process.
